The Irish are leagues ahead of us

BBC News reports today that the Irish are now increasing their tax on plastic bags given out at grocery stores like Tesco, Dunnes, and Spar. While I was studying for my masters in Dublin, I remember that Austin and I always brought our own bags to the grocers. Some places did not even have bags, but those that did always charged the 15 cents (roughly 25 cents US), which has now been increased to 22cents. Fantastic! If only American stores would start to do the same. Maybe our landfills would decrease exponetially.

In other news, thunder hit so hard a moment ago that it triggered the car alarms in my parking lot. How's that for powerful?
